Foods You Should Not Eat with Dental Implants

Posted on 8/30/2018 by College Hill Dental
Foods You Should Not Eat with Dental ImplantsPeople get dental implants because something happened to their real teeth. They had to replace them and chose an option that is most like having their real teeth.

Just like real teeth, the care you give your dental implants affect how well they work and how long they last. In addition to practicing basic oral hygiene habits, it is also a good idea to take some foods off your list of what to eat to protect your implants.

Ways Food Can Affect Implants

Just like real teeth, some foods have a negative impact on dental implants. Discoloration, cracking and breaking are some of the problems that people face with implants. There are many foods that can cause these problems. That does not always mean you are not able to eat these foods, but you need to know of the danger they present for your dental implants.

Looking at the Foods

If you do not want to crack your dental implants, you need to avoid the foods that are hard and difficult to chew. Hard candies and other similar foods are dangerous to not only your implants, but also your natural teeth.

Popcorn and seeds are also dangerous to implants. They can get stuck between the teeth and gums and can lead to more damage. Coffee has the potential to stain implants. Tobacco is also capable of staining teeth. Foods that are high in sugar and acids are potential problems if you do not have good oral hygiene practices.

The basic idea is to treat your dental implants in the same ways that you treat your real teeth. If a food is dangerous to your real teeth, it is dangerous to your implants and is often best to avoid.
